When Good Ideas Go Bad

First I have to thank A Few of My Favorite Things for introducing me to Bakerella. This blog is amazing! I have spent hours looking at everything on there and trying to determine if I could recreate what she has made. I decided to be brave try and make these. I had it all planned out of course. We would make the Oreo truffle footballs and take them to daddy at work to cheer him up; as he was bummed he had to work during his beloved football Sunday. So we got all of our ingredients and utensils out and pulled up the directions on the trusty laptop.

She is ready to work!

Of course taste testing is the most important step!! (sorry, bad picture, but she was done testing before I could take another one)

After the taste testing was over we began crushing the whole package of Oreos. Now from this experience I recommend that you use a food processor. If you don't have one, maybe try to borrow one. :) We don't have a processor so I figured a blender would do just as well; which it did crush them, but we had lots of cookie chunks that didn't get crushed and it made quite a mess! So we used the handy "put the cookies in a plastic bag and crush them" method. It worked fine, but we lost some of the cookie crumbs because they got stuck on the side of the bag. Plus when you are having fun crushing cookies with your daughter, you may accidentally knock over the bowl and then you are left with this:

So, needless to say we didn't get to make truffle footballs today after all :(. Princess took it surprisingly well and helped me clean up by telling me how much the glass looked like ice and pointing out where I missed a spot as she perched on her little chair island. We may try again tomorrow (with plastic bowls) or maybe wait until next Sunday. Either way I will show the results once we get it done!
